Mad Walker

Some people would call me a mad walker.

Walking is one of my favorite things to do. Every day, I set myself a mission to trudge for around an hour. I take similar routes every time, so folk who live in that circuit or pass by that path must have seen me, or even expected to see me. They must think me a madman, a man possessed.

I’m completely single-minded when I’m trudging, totally in the zone. Heady as a racehorse, nothing distracts me. I cut the crowd and the traffic, moving precariously; without a care.

As I have realized, the fast and the reckless have an advantage on the road. People are scared of them. They keep changing directions and stopping abruptly. Other individuals try to avoid getting near them.

I also do some weird stuff like taking photos and noting down things I find interesting or things I realize. The walk is an amazing idea generator.

Strolling gets my mind in a calm state, as the hormones released settle the nerves. Stray thoughts don’t affect me, and they seem pointless.

It also lets me spend some time away from my parents, who I now live with, every hour, every day.

In these times of isolation, it is the only time in the day when I get to go outside. I am not working right now, and have no friends nearby; and I hardly get any chance to be around people. Some bird-watching excellently rounds up the wholesome activity of ambling around Mukundopur.
