The anatomy of a dream….

We are leaving our house. It is an oldish house built in the late 1950s. It currently is year 2000.

The house is to be demolished, and an apartment is scheduled to be constructed in its place. It’s my home; I should not be calling it a house.

All our belongings have been transported to a place (it will start out as a house) where we are shifting- till the apartment is ready to be moved in. Just the last-minute clear out is left to be done.

I don’t want to leave.

Our bedroom opens to the dining area, which is connected to the verandah. The toilet is also attached to the dining space.

It is late in the night. I have got up to take a piss. While returning back to our room, I see a small TV in the verandah, which was unusual. There was a stove next to the TV, working without a source of energy, giving out a flame for no specific purpose. It is a strange sight. I am sure I am not dreaming.

I have an intuition the whole thing is my father’s doing. He messes up a lot. It has his fingerprints all over it.

It’s dark and I am a bit scared. I wonder if I should go out there and check exactly what is going on. I move closer and see something very peculiar. Something which could not be…….

There are infant-sized creatures eating the fire. A part of their bodies seemed to be burning as well. They didn’t look to be in any agony.

What am I seeing? I don’t have the stomach for further action. If these kids are dying, I don’t know what to do about that. If they are strange creatures, I definitely don’t know how they will react to my presence.

So I go back in our room……
