Cutting trees is a reckless activity. We slay them as we please, not caring about the ramifications or the fallout. We do so as we consider them to be things, not fellow living beings.
Until……. in Poland, when while cutting a tree in the woods, a person noticed blood gushing out of its trunk. He was horrified, and the sentiment was to be repeated across the globe.
As after this incidence, trees everywhere bled hot red blood when they were mowed down.
Humankind was not ready for this. They were used to killing in the name of acquisitive greed, but this was deeply unpleasant. Really inconvenient.
In response to the changing order of perspectives, there were new rules made regarding the woods, similar to those related to animals. They had their own rights now.
People felled fewer trees as they felt like they were one of them; they were blood brothers. Vegetarians stopped using wooden furniture and paper altogether. There was a general guilt in consuming timber.
Now for the stubborn and the pig-headed, there was a different route to transformation. Killing trees started to result in chronic pain in the world population.
The pain was common to all individuals, irrespective of the participation in the felling activity. So folks started regulating each-other.
Good incentive, this… to do better. To be better. Cause we will surely not do it of our own volition. Surely not.
So there was a tangible reason for behaving virtuously. They really had to be responsible for their actions; no longer could they be indiscriminate.
And then came a villain……………………………………….
