In demon slayer anime, they focus a lot on breathing. It’s the skill of controlling one’s breath that gets the characters to the next stage of power.
It’s not a foreign concept to me. Breathing is potent, I know that fully well.
Some time ago, when I had to strengthen my lungs, I was trained to deep breathe.
As of now, when I have no such issues, the pay-off of concentrated respiration is not lost on me.
The best way to do so, as I have found out, is anulom-vilom pranayam. It provides the brain with extra oxygen and clears it of unneeded thoughts, even the harmless random ones that (if given a chance) slow me down.
Deep diaphragmatic respiration has similar effects. When the mind has some space to manoeuvre and is not pestered by fear, doubt, random crap, or any/all kinds of needless thinking, there is clarity.
The extra head-space is the source of much coveted positivity, hope, creativity, forgiveness, empathy, stamina, and focus. A free mind processes stuff in a jiffy, as it is aided by extra mental muscle. Otherwise it would have had to flex and strain itself to process the simplest of notions.
So I can confidently say that total concentrated breathing is a true superpower.
Its sugar and spice and everything nice.
